As a precaution I installed this into my iMac to replace the existing HDD that was working fine but as its 7 years old I figured it was only a matter of time before it was likely to start to have aging problems. Quick delivery from FAST and very well packaged indeed.
Replacement was very straightforward. I also incorporated an in-line temperature sensor to ensure the fan control system would be fine too. This HDD is as quiet as the one it replaced – almost completely inaudible. I also installed a SSD at the same time and wanted a fresh OS install. Booting from a USB with the fresh OS, that was installed on the SSD then I connected the old HDD via a SATA-USB cable with power supply and in about 3 hours transferred 750GB of data and apps across to the new drive. All works perfectly.
