As this drive is an OEM Toshiba drive and a discounted price approx. 15 GBP cheaper than Seagate or WD, I thought I would check it out.
It was installed in a Lenovo P70 Laptop workstation with a 3.9GHz Xeon CPU, 32GB of ECC Ram and a Sandisk 1TB SSD primary drive.
Peak write speed to this drive (from the Sandisk SSD) was displayed at 115MB/s by Windows file transfer and 114MB/s read from (i.e. write to the Sandisk SSD). However the peak write and read were not sustained for very long, so appeared to average to slow transfer overall.
Although the 9.5mm height of this drive appeared to be about 1mm more than the laptop’s HDD drive carrier, it still fitted without any problems.
Also appeared to be a very quiet drive during a 20GB write to and read from this drive to the SSD.
For low cost, quiet, relatively average to slow speed requirements i.e. bulk storage of files, movies etc then this drive is good value. However if you need to launch large applications or files from this drive, then it is probably not the drive for you unless you are patient!

Having ordered my hard drive and fitting it I realised it was 2 mm smaller than it should have been( entirely my fault) I realised I should return it.Returning the drive with a “courier of my choice” would be around £7 so I plumped for the cheaper option royal mail signed for, well over a week later only through my own investigation. I find that the hard drive has a scratch on it and am told it will have to be returned to Toshiba and basically if they don’t accept it insurance will not cover it, so the drive will be sent back to me, so I am now £64 out of pocket and nothing to show 2 weeks later and after filling in a form I’m still waiting, Oh and there’s no”timeframe” so I am out of pocket and also I don’t have the hard drive either.
